The Pacific Centre for Isotopic and Geochemical Research (PCIGR) is a shared research platform that is dedicated to excellence and innovation in geochemistry, and providing analytical services to the research community.
We provide end-to-end service for your research needs in these fields:
- geology
- oceanography
- environmental sciences
- biology
- engineering
- archaeology.
We are always interested in supporting research in new directions. The video below showcases some of the research and projects we are assisting with, featuring the perspectives of PCIGR personnel and students.
Users from academia, government, industry and non-profit organizations from across Canada and internationally are welcome. Our professional team provides users with high-precision, low-level isotopic and geochemical services in the following areas:
- Project design and sample preparation, through to sample analysis and data interpretation.
- Expert advice on method development, with custom-designed analyses as needed.
- Hands-on training in laboratory and analytical instrumentation protocols.
We can accommodate the following types of analyses via our advanced instrumentation:
- Radiogenic isotopes for tracer studies (Nd, Hf, Pb-Pb, Sr)
- Radiogenic isotopes for geochronological studies (U-Pb in zircons and accessory phases; Lu-Hf in garnet)
- Transitional metal stable isotopes in geology and biology (Cd, Li, Cu, Zn, Fe, Mo)
- Light stable isotopes in geological, oceanographic, biological and archaeological materials (C, N, O)
- Trace elements in rocks, minerals, soils and waters (lithophile, REE, PGE)
- In-situ analyses of solid samples via laser ablation (rocks, minerals, and biological and archaeological materials)
